This temple was counted among the largest structures of its time, the height of its 13-storey building is about 66 meters. This temple is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. It is said that Emperor Raja Raja Chaul donated 4 thousand cows to the temple, 7 thousand goats, 30 buffaloes and 2500 acres of land, hundreds of workers were hired to run the temple system smoothly. The granite rocks are so hard that special diamond-pieced tools were used to cut and pierce them.
